Stevia is a perennial herb of the family Asteraceae and genus Stevia. The plant is 1-1.3m tall with fat, 50-60 root tips and can grow to 25cm overall. It has upright stems with woody roots and the corolla is light purple or white at the base and white at the top. The fruit is thread-like, somewhat flattened and brown with brown hairs. The flowering period is from July to September and the fruiting period is from September to November.
